OFFICIAL RULES FOR 2006
How the Game is Played
Each week there will be three games to pick. The final score of each team is what you will be picking. The object will be to get the least amount of points applying this formula:
The difference between your predicted score and the actual score.
Example, you pick a final score of 17-10 for team A vs. B.
The actual score is 13-21. First you will get the difference of team A, which would be 4 (17 minus 13), then the difference of team B, which would be 11 (21-10).
Adding the two will give you your score for that game, which would be 15.
You will get a bonus for correctly getting one of the scores correct of -5 (remember, the object is to have the least amount of points at the end of the season) and a -25 for a perfect score prediction.
So in the same example, if the actual score is 17-21, you would get a -5 for the correct pick of 17 for team A and a 10 for the difference of team B, giving you a total of 5 for that game.
You will not be so much concerned over who wins the game, but how close you come to getting that teams actual final score.
Weekly Picks
The games will be available by 10:00am Tuesday mornings. You will have until Friday 11:59pm to submit your picks. You must submit your picks via the submit button on the front page of the www site or on the new LOTRIO message board. NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you fail to submit your picks, you will have +100 points added to your weekly score. Since the object is to have the least amount of points at the end of the season, playing each week and being timely is a must.
Regular Season
The season will run from Sept 2 through the conference championship games, which will be the ACC, Big 12, and SEC games.
Playoffs
The playoffs will take the top 16 lowest scores and be seeded in a 4 round bracket tournament. There will be 28 bowls in the 2005-06 season, so each round will consist of picking seven games, instead of the normal three. In the event of a tie, each round will have one game in which you will also submit a pick of how many yards the winning team finishes the game with.
Contest Administration
Contest administrators reserve the right to make decisions relating to the contest at their discretion. Judgments rendered by contest administrators are final.
